VoiceNote

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 June 2026

The short version: VoiceNote runs entirely on your iPhone. It has no accounts and no servers of its own. The developer does not collect, see, store, or transmit your recordings, transcripts, or any personal information. There is no advertising, no analytics SDK, and no tracking.

Who this policy covers

This Privacy Policy describes how the VoiceNote app (“VoiceNote”, “the app”) handles information. VoiceNote is developed and operated by Milo Voorhout (“we”, “us”, “the developer”). By using VoiceNote you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

None. VoiceNote does not require an account, a sign-in, or any registration. We do not operate a backend service that receives your data. We do not collect personal information, usage profiles, contact details, or location. We do not use advertising or third-party analytics, and we do not track you across apps or websites.

Information stored on your device

Everything you create in VoiceNote is stored locally in the app’s private storage on your device, including:

This information never leaves your device by way of the app. Deleting a note removes its data, and deleting the app removes all of it. If you back up your iPhone (for example to iCloud Backup or to a computer), your VoiceNote data may be included in that backup, which is managed by Apple and your device settings — not by us.

Microphone and speech recognition

VoiceNote uses the microphone, with your permission, to record the voice memos you choose to capture. To turn speech into text, the app uses Apple’s built-in Speech Recognition framework. VoiceNote requests on-device recognition wherever the selected language supports it, so your audio is processed locally. For some languages that do not yet offer on-device recognition, Apple’s Speech framework may process the audio on Apple’s servers to return a transcript. That processing is performed by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy; the audio and transcripts are never sent to the developer.

On-device intelligence

Titles, summaries, suggested questions, and the answers in the “Ask your notes” chat are generated by Apple’s on-device foundation models running on your iPhone. Your notes are not sent to the developer or to any third-party AI service to produce these features.

Calendar and Reminders

When VoiceNote detects a possible event or to-do in a note, it shows it as a suggestion. Only if you tap to add it does the app create an event in your Apple Calendar or a reminder in Apple Reminders, using Apple’s EventKit. Nothing is added without your explicit tap, and these items are stored in your Apple Calendar/Reminders under Apple’s control.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, VoiceNote may schedule local reminders (such as a daily recap) that are generated on your device. These are not sent through any external server.

Diagnostics

VoiceNote uses Apple’s MetricKit to receive aggregated, anonymized performance and crash diagnostics from the operating system. When available, these reports are delivered to the developer through Apple’s App Store Connect. They are intended to identify crashes and performance problems and are not used to identify you. We do not use any third-party crash or analytics SDK.

Children’s privacy

VoiceNote is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
